  • Nobody Has Taken Responsibility Yet
The events of September 11, 2001 were overwhelmingly tragic. After reviewing the available facts of what happened, we now know that 19 terrorists boarded several commercial American Airlines aircrafts as regular passengers without conventional weapons, and took control of the airplanes. They then used these airplanes as weapons by crashing them into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

What we face today when traveling by air are long lines and extra travel time along with a constant feeling of fear. Extra security measures are being taken today to ensure that what happened on September 11 will never happen again. Looking at these security measures, I wonder: Why do we spend so much money and so much time on airport security? Was September 11 a security problem?

Here are some interesting facts to consider:

  • Did any of the 19 terrorists carry arms or anything resembling conventional weapons? The answer is NO.
  • Were any of the 19 terrorists carrying bombs or other explosive devices on them at any given time? The answer is NO.
  • Out of the 19 terrorists, nine were linked to terrorist organizations, and ALL were on the FBI's Wanted List. Why were they allowed to enter, stay and move about freely in the USA?
  • One of the FAA regulations (since the 1980s) states that the cockpit door must remain closed at all times during the course of the flight. On four different flights, four different crewmembers opened the cockpit doors. This allowed the terrorists to take over the airplanes. I am aware that this sort of terrorist act had never occurred before, but I am more amazed at how easily and quickly the terrorists were able to enter the cockpits.
  • Over the years, I have said it many times, and have even written several letters to the authorities, stating that airport security guards must have better training and better pay. In spite of this, I have no doubt in my mind that "SECURITY WAS NOT AT FAULT IN THE CASE OF 9/11."

All of this makes me wonder once again: If this was not a security failure, then whose failure was it? The FBI? The CIA? The INS? The FAA? Nobody has taken responsibility yet!!!!
